INA122 Absolute operating temperature

Hello,

for an application I need to use INA122 in a oven at 85°C.

Datasheet says that the range of absolute operating temperatue is -40 to 125°C, but the same datasheet says that INA122 is specified for -40 to 85°C.

Is it possible make INA122 work at 85°C? (It doesn't matter the derating of some parameters)

Thanks.

Is OPA1652 stable with gain of 0.5

Hi

I wish to use a OPA1652 to convert from a differential/balanced audio input to an unbalanced output (using a standard three op amp configuration as per circuit below to do this).

To ensure that the gains are correct through the system I require that the overall gain is set to 0.5 (ie in differential stage where R3=R2/2 from circuit below, Input buffers are unity gain).

Are you able to confirm that the OPA1652 will be stable with this gain of 0.5.  Would also note that will be driving internal circuitry so load capacitance is minimal.

The data sheet states that stable for unity gain but am aware that phase margin reduced for successively lower gains.

I could look at implementing different configuration with inherent 0.5 gain but would prefer to use circuit shown below.

Image result for standard balanced to unbalanced circuit

Thanks

Peak Detector using the LMP7715

I built up a peak detector circuit using the LMP7715. However, it's not working as expected.

Before I get into the circuit itself, my question is whether or not this choice is reasonable.

I need rail-to-rail input and output, so this helps limit the choice of amplifiers. Then, since it must drive a capacitive load through the diode, that determines some aspects of the output. I went with the LMP7715 because it was already used elsewhere in the design.

So, is this a reasonable choice, or should I immediately go elsewhere?

The application needs to capture the peak of a pulse of a ion detector. Measuring the value of the peak will determine the energy of the ion.

Thanks.

XTR300 gets hot

Hi, folks

In following schematic, the case temperature of XTR300 will be 55 degC.

The consumption current is only 18.9mA, so Tj should be around 42.5degC, Tc should be around 32degC.

I am wondering why the XTR300 gets hot.

Could you review schematic and let me know if there are findings?

Question on peak detector circuit

I Built up the circuit as shown, but am having problems with the input section of U11. It seems to keep blowing!

What have I done wrong and how can I get it working?

Note that I changed R17 to 10K and still didn't get what I expected.

Thanks

Incorrect Footprint on TI's database.

For the OPA549T(TO-220) Op-Amp, the footprint provided on the TI's website seems incorrect. If you compare pin locations with specs, the pin-1 row should be on lower side while Pin-2, 4, 6 and 8 should be on upper side. Currently they are revered. We already have a board built on the footprint provided by you. Can you please let us know if my assumption is incorrect and the footprint is bad?

For OPA549T specs, goto:

http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/opa549.pdf

Comparing with device package at:

http://www.ti.com/litv/pdf/MPZF003B

It seems that the Pin-1(left side) should be more bend outwards from the body of the amplifier. Sow pins 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11 should be on Bottom Row while Pins 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 should on on Top row. However please see footprint at:

http://webench.ti.com/cad/dlbxl.cgi/TI_BXL/OPA549_KV_11.bxl

On this footprint, it seems that this is reversed.

XTR110 voltage divider input changes output

Hee guys,

I need some help with a project i'm working on. I have a XTR110 with a voltage divider connected to the input. The input voltage is 0-40V, the voltage divider converts this in to 0-10V (33k // 11k resistors(metal-film 2W 1%)). I use the simple schematic out of the data sheet (IRF9510 MOSFET) and 24V voltage supply.

The voltage divider works perfectly and the XTR110 work perfectly(with an input from 0-10V) but when i connect those 2 together, the output current changes. With 0-10V input, the output is 4-20 mA. With the voltage divider in front of the circuit, the output become 4-16mA. (input voltage still 0-10V from the divider)

When 1 measure the voltage from the voltage divider at 40V input -> 10V. When i connect it to the XTR110, the voltage divider drops to 7.7V. Is this because the XTR110 uses current from its input somehow?

I changed 1 resistor, so now it is 33K // 20K and the output current is 4-21 mA. But it still makes no sense to me.

Can someone help me?

Op amp with low peak-to-peak noise over 0.05-150Hz (searching for)

I am looking for a cheap op-amp to use as an input buffer for an ECG application.

The difficult feature to search for is low Vpp noise in the range 0.05-150Hz. It is not listed in the standard "compare" parts feature of the TI website. The "Vn" column is completely useless, since it is at 1kHz. For example, OPA333 has Vn 55nV/√Hz at 1kHz, but only 1.1 μVpp at 0.1-10Hz, while OPA314 has only Vn 14nV/√Hz at 1kHz but has 5 µVpp at 0.1-10Hz.

How can I search for such features, other than checking hundreds of datasheets manually?

How can I calculate the Vpp over the range 0.05-150Hz? The noise graphs don't usually go below 10Hz for some reason.

I certainly need a Vpp of less than 5 μVpp over the range 0.05-150Hz, and am really looking for something more like 1-2 μVpp.

Other highly desirable features include:
Rail-to-rail input and output
Low bias current
Low power
Suitable for 3V supply

TLC2274 has a low Vpp but input is only to 1.5V from positive supply, it drains a lot of current and requires 4.4V supply.

About The LMP7721 in Transimpedance Amplifier Mode using 0v/5V power supply.

We have the following problems with the LMP7721, and we do not know if it is caused by our mistaken design, if some people already have the same experience, please help us.

The following is the condition we are using:

  • We are using a Transimpedance Amplifier made by LMP7721(using a LMP7715 to guard the input) with a T-net(to increase the gain), to convert the current signal produced by the Photon Diode. The schematic is as following:

  • We layout the PCB just as the TI Evaluation Board:

Just as (http://www.ti.com.cn/cn/lit/ug/snou004/snou004.pdf)

  • We using the PLC Sampling Module (differential input, the 0V is not directly connected the PLC power ) to get the signal after amplified, in normally working condition it is about 4.5V,which means we need a very large gain.
  • The power of PLC system is support by a separate switch power.
  • Due to some reason the 0V of our Transimpedance Amplifier can not connected to the GND of the power net.
  • The Power of the Transimpedance Amplifier is support by a battery OR a separate isolated linear power module.
  • The test is in a normal office without other larger electricity devices.
  • During the test, only the dark current of the Photon Diode is used, there is no light on the Photon Diode.

The following is the problem we meet:

Condition 1: When we:

  • Using the battery as the power of the Transimpedance Amplifier(5V,0V)
  • With or Without the metal Shield ①.

The output of the Transimpedance Amplifier(Vo+,Vo-, read from the PLC) is about 0.1V and with a very low noise (about 5mV, and even lower with the metal Shield ①)

Condition 2:When we:

  • Using the the separate isolated linear power module as the power of the Transimpedance Amplifier(5V and 0V), then linear power module 0V is not connected to the GND of the power net
  • Without the metal Shield ①.

The output of the Transimpedance Amplifier(Vo+,Vo-, read from the PLC) is about 0.1V and with a very high noise about 1V, much larger than the signal of the dark current.

Condition 3:When we:

  • Using the the separate isolated linear power module as the power of the Transimpedance Amplifier(5V and 0V), then linear power module 0V is not connected to the GND of the power net
  • With the metal Shield ① connected to the 0V of the linear power module.

The output of the Transimpedance Amplifier(Vo+,Vo-, read from the PLC) is about 0.1V and with a very low noise (about 5mV) of the same lever in condition 1.

We are wondering what causes the noise in condition 2 and is there any different with using the battery  or using an linear power module to power the circuit?

behaivor of LM13700

Hello,

I would like to teach me about behaivor of out of LM13700's operating range.

LM13700's operating range is until 0 degree.
However, the customer had test of LM13700 that changes temperature until -20 degree.
And LM13700 could output until -18 degree.
So the customer would like to use LM13700 until it with understanding  out of specification.
(It means they don't need us product warranty.)

If LM13700 is used until its degree, they have concern for infuluence to correct behaivor.
Does LM13700 have cause to stop or move with strange when LM13700 has behaivor in negative degree?
(For example, LM13700 stops in ratch up, and so on.)

Broadband PLC communication for J1772

Hi,

I am investigating the implementation of PLC through J1772 port for DC-fast charging of automotive. Based on J1772 standard for DC-fast charging there should be a broadband PLC between EV and EVSE  through the pilot Line (explaned in SAE J2931/4 standard). So my question is:

Q1. Does AFE031 or any of its families support broadband PLC?

Q2. If not, does TI have any other family/part for that purpose?

Q3. If this part covers broadband, is there any reference design for it?

Thanks!

Hi,

I am designing a small adjustable power supply and looking to upgrade some of the opamps I am using to help me get outputs closer to 0V.

I am looking for an opamp with the ability to swing its output to 0V like the TLC272C but with a higher supply voltage of 30V. Currently I'm using the LM358 but it can not swing its output low enough.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers.

LMP91051 standalone operation

$

Greetings,

We are working on NDIR sensors using LMP91051, and have some questions concerning to the operation of the LMP91051.

As a very initial approach, we used LMP91051EVM + SPIO4 board, and it worked fine.

Our next step was to use the LMP91051EVM alone, eliminating SPIO4 replaced by Arduino Uno to send SPI command to the LMP91051, and worked okay.

A problem arose when we soldered the LMP91051 chip on the TSSOP adapter board and constructed a circuit as described in the figure below.

We used 10nF ceramic capacitors for the three capacitors at the left-hand side in the schematic above. VDD was connected to +3.3V without placing any capacitor between, and VIO was just shorted to the VDD (no filtering). CSB was just connected to ground as we have only LMP91051 as a SPI slave. SCLK was provided from the SPI clock of Arduino Uno, and SDIO was connected to the MOSI of the Arduino Uno. (I understood that MOSI_EN of the LMP91051EVM is not necessary if we don't plan to read registers from LMP91051.) We use a DAQ to read the analog output from the OUT pin from the LMP91051.

Unfortunately, we have no luck. The signal does not even show any periodic pattern from %50 duty cycle of the lamp power input.

Any advice would be highly appreciated. Thank you.

LM108AJ-8 replacement

I was told by TI customer support that the LM10 is the replacement for obsoleted LM108AJ-8, which has compensation pins 1 and 8.

There is a 30pF cap between these two pins on customer board.

How would I need to set bandwitdh and slew rate on LM10 similarly?

Thanks in advance for the help.

XTR111 SET Pin damaged

$

Hello

I am using the XTR111 in a Gas leak trasmitter.

Currently i have only populated the relevant parts

1)Generating 5v for peripheral use - works good

2)Vin = 1.4v

3)SET resistor 10k - output current was 1.4mA dropped across a 250ohm Load : Vout = 350mV

4)Now i change SET resitor to 2.2k so expected current was 6.3mA & Vout  should be 1.59v

Although at this point the Vout was above 8v ,

I checked pin7 (SET) for resistance and it shows a 22ohms across ground.

I dont know why it got damaged.

Please someone help
