LOG112: Tantalum bypass capacitor alternative

Part Number:LOG112

Hi,

We have been using log112 for our sensor signal conditioning for the past three years. Recently smoking was observed in a few boards and the issue is the 10uF tantalum decoupling capacitor used. What will be a better alternative - electrolytic or MLCC? The datasheet mentions a tantalum capacitor but considering the fire hazard, which is better?

Thanks & Regards,

OPA4277: the opamp reaches very high temperatures

Part Number:OPA4277

hello.

I'm using the operational opa2477. I am using it within a circuit to adjust the gain of a signal. The amplifier gets very hot, so I remove all the components that connect it with the other parts of the circuit. In conclusion the amplifier is only connected to the + -12V supply, and its respective decoupling capacitors, but the amplifier still reaches temperatures of 60 ° C and above. Is this temperature normal for the amplifier? I have changed the amplifier twice, and the result remains the same.
the funny thing is that the amplifier works, and fulfills its task, but I do not know if I let the circuit work with this temperature, in a short time, the circuit no longer works.

Hi Guys,

Let me allow to ask that, can i use Grounded J-type thermocouple for xtr101?
I did not find the answer in the datasheet.

To be honest the best will be the followings:
Use any type of thermocople , like as grounded or not grounded.

Part Number:BOOSTXL-TLV8544PIR

Hi  I have CC2538 evolution module with SmartRF06 board and I have BOOSTXL-TLV8544PIR.

I am trying to access the PIR sensor from CC2538. I found some info on the link  But I not found the Power supply pin for PIR, I tried by giving the power supplies of 3.3 and 5 to the power pins I was getting random varying voltages from all of PIR Low THR OUT, High THR OUT, PIR Signal OUT and  1STAG OUT.   I am in confusion how to read value from this sensor, I not get what is 1STAG OUT. Can any one please help to access the PIR from MCu other than CC2650 Launchpad.

Thank you.

INA128: High Voltage Measurement 110V, 100K/100Ohm,

Part Number:INA128

Dear Employees / Engineers,

I currently building an Instrumentation amplifier application for measuring High voltages over mediums in the medical research to study their behavior.

What I am using is a INA128 for measuring the voltage from 110V by means of a Voltage divider and a Offset +Filter (LT1028) into an External ADC ADS8885 18Bit.

The second OPA is a INA148 which is a difference amplifier for current measurement.

 The question is:

How to design or calculate the right Zener diodes/voltage Suppressors for my applications.

I am using +-15V for the Opamps, and I would like to protect the INA148,INA128 and ADS8885 inputs.

Are BAT46WJ SOT323 sufficient or are the even Transguard from AVX better?

TINA/Spice/opa333: design a notch filter

Part Number:opa333

Tool/software:TINA-TI or Spice Models

Hi

I am giving an EEG signal as an input to my circuit. A general EEG signal frequency ranges from 0-30Hz and I need to eliminate other frequencies.

I have added noise to my signal and given it as an input to IN333 instrumentation amplifier.

1. I have added a 2nd orderLow-PassSallen Key filter to it with passband region till 40 Hz and stopband region from150 Hz.

2. I have connected a High pass filter with stopband from 0.01Hz and passband from 0.5Hz.

So I need to eliminate the frequency of signal ranges from 40 to 150 Hz. I am planning to add a notch filter.

I am confused How to design a single op-amp twin T notch filter which attenuates signals between 40 to 150 Hz.

I am planning to use Tina workbench for designing this stop band filter, what are the parameters I need to consider

centre frequency (fo) ----------?  is it sqrt(40*150)

-3db bandwidth(Asb)  ------------?

stop band bandwidth (BW3b)---------------?

INA333: How about one with differential *output*

Part Number:INA333

Thank you for the forum. I want to make a strain gauge interface. I seem to find oodles of different devices to do this. For my use I already have a micro with a ADC having a good 16 bit,  DIFFERENTIAL INPUT capability with plenty of speed on tap. I just need a little GAIN. 100 maybe.

Looking at front end "IN" amplifiers like the INA333 and hoping to find one that has a differential output, single supply with simple OCM setting capabilities seems missing... Either I'm missing something literally or conceptually. Conceptually meaning -- there must be a good reason that this is not more prevalent as a BRIDGE BUFFER - ADC DRIVER

Full bridge ( 4 strain gauges 350 ohms each )

3 or 5 volt excitation.

Expecting about 20mV full scale from bridge

The mid bridge voltage being exactly excitation/2

I'd like to have at least 12 of my bits not wiggling around. (I'm in a fairly low noise environment. )

I see some differential input and output amplifiers

But don't seem to make the STRAIN GAUGE application connection with any of them.

Their claim to fame seems to be " these drive differential input ADC's great!"

Am I off base?

Appreciate any helpful responses.

Thanks

OPA2192: Behavior at power OFF

Part Number:OPA2192

I have some question about OPA2192.

In the situation the power of OPA 2192 is OFF.
How to prevent damage to the OPA 2192 when applying an external voltage to the output pin (pin 1) of the OPA 2192?
For data input pins on the data sheet, it is stated that the input current should be ±10 mA or less.
However, I could not find a description about output pins.
If the current of the output pin is suppressed to ± 10 mA or less,(Insert a resistor between output pin and external power supply)
Will OPA 2192 receive no damage?

Kind regards,

Taka

AMC1301: Rise and Fall Time Test waveform of input signal VINP - VINN

Part Number:AMC1301

Hello support team,

I have some questions about AMC1301.

Regarding Figure 45 and 46 on page 17 of Data Sheet (Rev. D), I'd like to know the specification of the rise and fall time of the input signal VINP - VINN.

Questions
1. Since "tr" and "tf" of the output signals VOUTP and VOUTN are 2.0 μs respectively, I guess that the rise and fall time of VINP - VINN is 2.0 μs or less.
Is my understanding correct?

2. In the case the rise and fall time of VINP - VINN is less than 2.0 μs, I think  "tr" and  "tf" of VOUTP and VOUTN will be always 2.0 μs.
Is my understanding correct?

3. Therefore I presume that the rising and falling conditions of VINP - VINN in Figure 45 and Figure 46 are less than 2.0 μs.
Is my understanding correct?

Best regards,
M. Tachibana

Hello,

One of my customer senior engineers posed a concern that the feedback resistor (R10) on the Op Amp below has too high a value (10M) and could make the feedback loop unstable.  Do you see any issue with this implementation?

Part Number:OPA202

The Data sheet shows the SOT-23 5pin package to be available but the TI product page does not provide an orderable PN for the SOT-23.

Are these (SOT-23 and SC-70) supposed to be package options for the OPA202 or is this a misprint in the data sheet?

PGA309: PGA309 VBA Communication

Part Number:PGA309

We use the PGA309 along with a modified version of the Excel PGA309 Calibration spreadsheet to calculate the calibration parameters.  We save the configuration parameters calculated using the PGA309 Calibration spreadsheet and download to the PGA309 using the PGA309_DK board interface program.

We would like to add the communications to and from the PGA309 into the Excel spreadsheet.  Do you have any code or library for VBA that would help us to add communication to the PGA309 to our Excel based spreadsheet?

OPA350: Load Capacitance

$

Part Number:OPA350

I use an OPA350 to buffer the ADC's unbuffered voltage output (VCOM). The ADC's VCOM pin provides a voltage output equal to AVDD/2 to set the output common-mode level of the analog input drivers - in this case, 8 differential amplifiers VOCM.

The OPA350's output, which is now the buffered ADC VCOM (+2.5V), powers the output common-mode pins (VOCM) of 8 differential amplifiers that sets the DC output voltage. Each differential amplifier's VOCM input contains one 0.1uF, one 1uF, and one 10uF decoupling capacitor to filter high-frequency noise. Per the differential amplifier's datasheet, a 0.1-μF or 1-μF capacitor is generally adequate so I may be overdoing it with the 10uF decoupling cap.

My questions are:

1) Is the total output load capacitance too much for the OPA350 to drive? Could it cause oscillation/instability on the output?

2) Should I add an isolation resistor such as a 100 ohm resistor in series with the output of the OPA350 to help reduce instability/oscillation?

3) Should I add a 100 ohm resistor in series between the output of the ADC's VCOM pin and the input of the OPA350 to reduce parasitic noises? The recommended VCOM output on the ADC does not have a series resistor and only recommends using a 0.1uF bypass capacitor to reduce noise pickup.

Thank you
